The MG S5 EV, a new premium SUV made in a pure EV platform, is poised to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) market, emerging as the ideal successor to the highly successful MG ZS EV. While the MG ZS EV has been a popular choice in the Nepalese market, the MG S5 EV is set to build on that success by delivering a more powerful, more efficient, and feature-rich alternative.

With its estimated official launch in Nepal set to be within the first quarter of 2025, the MG ES5 - which will be known as the MG S5 EV in the global market, promises to elevate the driving experience by combining cutting-edge technology, enhanced performance, and a modern design, making it the perfect choice for those ready to upgrade to the next level of electric mobility.

Battery Options

The MG S5 EV offers two battery options—49.1kWh and 62.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs, developed in collaboration with CATL, a leading battery manufacturer. The MG S5 EV boasts the world’s thinnest battery, measuring just 110mm in thickness, contributing to the vehicle’s sleek, spacious, and efficient design.

With a range extending from 425km to 525km (based on CLTC testing), the MG S5 EV outperforms the MG ZS EV, offering longer journeys and fewer charging stops.

Enhanced Performance

At the core of the MG S5 EV is the advanced Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), shared with the MG4 EV and MG Cyberster. This rear-wheel-drive platform is engineered for ultimate performance, smoother handling, and greater comfort, providing a driving experience that far exceeds the capabilities of the MG ZS EV.

The entry-level MG S5 EV comes equipped with a 125kW/250Nm motor, while higher-spec variants may feature more powerful options like the 150kW/250Nm and 180kW/350Nm motors, similar to those found in the MG4 EV. These updates deliver a significant performance boost, ensuring a more dynamic and efficient driving experience for those seeking more power in their premium electric SUV.

The MG S5 EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.0 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/h, making it a more exciting option for drivers who crave performance.

A Modern, Sleek Design

The MG S5 EV introduces a modern, sleek design that marks a departure from the MG ZS EV’s more conventional styling. Its exterior features include a split-headlight design, a bold lower air intake, silver roof rails, and distinctive Y-shaped tail lights, all contributing to its futuristic and aerodynamic profile.

Comparatively larger than other EVs in its segment, the MG S5 EV measures 4476mm long, 1849mm wide, and 1621mm tall, the MG S5 offers a spacious cabin and a commanding road presence.

Arrival

Set to hit showrooms in the first quarter of 2025, the MG S5 EV is poised to become a leader in Nepal's electric vehicle market. With its blend of performance, design, and technology, the MG S5 EV is ready to take over as the new standard for electric SUVs.
